Approximately four years post their departure as senior members of the royal family, the official royal website has undergone a substantial revision concerning their biographies. Royal.uk, the authorized source for information and updates regarding all British royal family members, has consolidated the couple’s bios into a single page under the title of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Previously, Prince Harry and Meghan had individual pages on the website. The merged page is now located under The Royal Family tab, following those of other members like the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and others.
The page begins with a statement addressing the couple’s decision to step back as senior royals. It states, “As announced in January 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back as working members of The Royal Family. The couple married in St George’s Chapel, Windsor on 19 May 2018 and have two children: Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.” Following this statement are detailed biographies of the couple under headings such as ‘About the Duke of Sussex’ and ‘About the Duchess of Sussex.’
It highlights career achievements such as Prince Harry co-founding the Sentebale charity and launching the Invictus Games, as well as Meghan’s acting career in Suits, her lifestyle blog The Tig, and her patronage of organizations like Smart Works and Mayhew.
These updates were highlighted by the royal family fan blog Gert’s Royals, which also noted the previous existence of longer biographies for the couple on the website. Notably, Prince Harry’s profile previously carried the heading ‘Supporting the Monarch.’
The recent update referenced the couple’s new website, Sussex.com, indicating its recent nature. Launched in February of the current year, the website marks the couple’s return to sharing updates about their philanthropic and social endeavors through a public platform.
The website provides links to their nonprofit organization, the Archewell Foundation, and their for-profit venture, Archewell Productions. The About section on the website states, “The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, is shaping the future through business and philanthropy,” outlining their various initiatives and organizations they support.
The homepage features a picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle smiling at the 2023 Invictus Games, which was also used for their 2023 Christmas card.
Additionally, the launch of Meghan’s podcast Archetypes on all platforms and her return to Instagram through her new lifestyle account, American Riveria Orchard, followed the website’s relaunch.
