Real Madrid Veteran Luka Modric rescued three points for the Spanish giants who fought tooth and nail to a 1-0 victory against Sevilla.
Luka Modric’s strike sealed a 1-0 win for Real Madrid over Sevilla, sending Los Blancos eight points clear at the top of the La Liga standings.
Sevilla had the best chances either side of Federico Valverde hitting the post just after half-time. Youseff En-Nesyri should have put Sevilla ahead in the eighth minute, but he fired wide.
Sergio Ramos also started for Sevilla for the first time since the pre-covid era.
Real Madrid was also canceled by a lengthy VAR check after Vasquez controlled Vinicius Jr’s pass and sent the ball into the back of the net.
It was a very difficult match,” Modric said. Sevilla didn’t make it easy for us, but we got the win in the end and that’s all that matters. “Our persistence. We never stopped, we continued to push forward and we created a lot of chances. We knew we couldn’t let the three points slip away. Barcelona was getting close and we couldn’t allow that to happen. It paid off in the end, they’re three very important points in this campaign.
“We showed that we kept going until the end and that we never gave up. We’ve shown it many times before, it’s the Real Madrid genes. We’d like to have wrapped it up sooner, but sometimes it’s the way it goes.”
