The British royal family faces an unusual dual health challenge, with Kate Middleton hospitalized for planned abdominal surgery and King Charles scheduled for a prostate procedure next week.

Queen Camilla marked her first engagement of 2024 at Aberdeen Art Gallery, inaugurating a Safe Space. When questioned about her husband’s health, she reassured, “He’s fine, thank you very much. Looking forward to getting back to work,” marking the first official comment from a royal family member.

Buckingham Palace issued a brief statement yesterday, revealing, “In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate. His Majesty’s condition is benign, and he will undergo a corrective procedure next week, leading to a brief period of recuperation during which public engagements will be postponed.”

Charles, currently residing at Birkhall in Aberdeenshire, had to cancel this week’s commitments before the impending procedure. The residence, inherited from Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 2002, holds sentimental value for Charles and Camilla, serving as their honeymoon location in 2005.

The location for Charles’s procedure and his post-operative plans in Scotland remain undisclosed by Buckingham Palace.

Meanwhile, Prince William was seen visiting Kate at the London Clinic today, where she is expected to stay for up to two weeks. Kensington Palace emphasized Kate’s desire for privacy regarding her medical information and her wish to maintain normalcy for her children during this time.
