Sidney Powell, the former president Donald Trump’s lawyer who assisted in planning his legal campaign to try to reverse his loss in the 2020 election, has entered a guilty plea in the massive Georgia election meddling case.

Following the 2020 election, Powell propagated erroneous allegations of massive election fraud and attempted to gain access to voting machines in Coffee County, Georgia, and other locations to support those accusations.

Powell is one of 19 individuals, including the former president, who has been accused of racketeering in connection with unsuccessful attempts to overturn his Georgian defeat.

Her involvement in planning an attempt to unlawfully duplicate election data from remote, predominately Republican Coffee County led to six further accusations against her. Georgia’s triple-counted 2020 election results show no signs of fraud.

Powell entered a guilty plea to six misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit intentional interference with the performance of election duties on Thursday morning, one day prior to the start of jury selection for her joint trial with attorney Kenneth Chesebro.

In accordance with the terms of the plea agreement, Powell will serve six years on probation, pay a $6,000 fine, reimburse the state for the cost of replacing election equipment with $2,700 in restitution, write an apology letter, and swear to tell the truth in any future hearings or trials. He will also turn over “any requested documents or evidence subject to any lawful privileges asserted in good faith prior to entering this plea.”

In a prior statement, Powell and her legal representatives denied any misconduct, claiming that Coffee County authorities, some of whom are also co-defendants in the case, had invited the examination of voting machines, servers, and other delicate electoral tools.

Due to his involvement in the Coffee County breach, bail bondsman Scott Hall of the Atlanta area was the first to accept a plea deal in the case last month.

Attorney Cheseboro wrote memoranda on how Republicans could rig congressional elector slates. Cheseboro will now stand trial on his own.

A trial date has not been scheduled for Trump and the other co-defendants.
