Donny van de Beek scored his first goal for Manchester United in 20 months in Wednesday’s friendly match against Lyon in Edinburgh.
The 26-year-old midfielder took an excellent cross from Daniel Gorefired a fine volley into the back of Lyon’s net four minutes into the second half at Murrayfield.
Donny van de Beek was the only goal in the match, taking Man. United to two wins from two matches, having beaten Leeds 2-0 in Oslo in their first friendly of the summer.
Erik ten Hag made two changes to the starting squad that began the success over Leeds in Norway seven days earlier. Matej Kovar replaced Tom Heaton in goal and Antony made his return from injury, in place of Omari Forson. Jonny Evans was on the bench after the experienced defendersigned a short-term deal this weekto return to the club.
Lyon, managed by former United defender Laurent Blanc, named ex-Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette and former Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso in their line-up for the first half.
Man United lost some chances in the first half and surprisingly, was able to convert one from the fewer chances they were given in the second half.
