DOT Seeks Public Comments On Proposed Summer Ferry Schedule

According to Alaska Marine Highway System’s proposed summer schedule, the Kennicott and Columbia will both have voyages between Bellingham and major Alaska ports from May through September of this year 2023.

The LeConte is scheduled to stop at Northern Panhandle ports with the Hubbard sailing Lynn Canal six days per week given the availability of enough crew members. This would free up the LeConte for additional stops at other villages.

The public can submit written comments about the draft schedule spanning May 1 through September 30, including special requests, to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.

The comment period is open currently open now and will remain so until Jan. 26. AMHS will hold a public meeting for the Southeast Alaska region on Zoom at 10 a.m. January 27. The meeting can also be attended in person at the AMHS office in Ketchikan.

The suggested schedule includes the Kennicott berthing between Bellingham, Prince Rupert, Juneau, and across the Gulf of Alaska to Southwest Alaska 3 times a month throughout the season.
