The UEFA Champions League has moved on to the knockout stage, after completing six matches in the group stage.
The group stage saw some surprising exits, with Liverpool suffering a 4-1 defeat in Naples, Inter frustrating Barcelona, and Chelsea going down 1-0 at Dinamo Zagreb, while Real Madrid was handed their first defeat of the season by RB Leipzig.
The draw for the 2022-23 Champions League knockout stage will happen on Monday, November 7, 2022, by 11 am GMT / 6 am ET / 4:30 pm IST.
It will be held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland where eight teams would be matched with eight opposing teams in the knockout stages.
Teams from the same group cannot be drawn against each other, while clubs from the same national association (such as the Premier League or La Liga) also cannot be drawn against one another.
Teams from the same group may be drawn against each other in the quarterfinals, depending on the results from the knockout stages.
In the group stage, only the winners and the first runners-up moved to the knockout stages.
In Group A, Napoli was the group winner even after they lost to Liverpool in the final match of the group stage. Liverpool finished as the runners-up.
In Group B, Porto was the winner with Club Brugge as the runners-up. In group C, Bayern Munich took the center stage as they displayed an impressive run in the campaign, and Inter Milan was runner-up.
PSG and Benfica both finished with the same points, as group leaders and runner-ups.
Tottenham also secured a place in the Champions League round of sixteen after a dramatic late win over Marseille. Frankfurt was the runner-up.
The last 16 rounds will take place over two legs, with the first legs played on February 14-15 and February 21-22, and the second legs played on March 7-8 and March 14-15, 2023.
