We typically go to the market to purchase a bottle of Pine-Sol because we want to thoroughly clean our floors, counters, and bathrooms. But regrettably, Clorox, the manufacturer of Pine-Sol cleaning solutions, has just announced a broad recall of their goods due to concerns that they may potentially contain bacteria that can spread throughout the cleaning environment and be inhaled.
37 million bottles of various Pine-Sol products, which were sold on Amazon and at other retailers around the US, were being recalled, the company reported.
Given that Pseudomonas aeruginosa may be present in the cleansers, “those with compromised immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to Pseudomonas aeruginosa run a risk of serious infection that may require medical care,” according to the Pine-Sol recall page. The germs can enter the body through an open wound, the eyes, or inhalation.
For the following recalled goods, search your cabinets: CloroxPro Pine-Sol all-purpose cleaner in Lavender Clean, Sparkling Wave, and Orange Energy; Pine-Sol multisurface cleaner in Lemon Fresh; and Clorox Professional Pine-Sol Lemon Fresh Cleaner. The business did mention that Original Pine-Sol (Pine Scent), their flagship product, is not included in the recall.
