Thousands of women take to the streets of Afghanistan to revolt breach of right to female education

In recent developments, thousands of women have taken to the street of Afghanistan to protest against the violation of a girl’s right to education.

Afghanistan has been suffering oppressive rule for over two decades and the women, along with the girl child are at the receiving end of all the negative activities.

The women are not allowed to show their faces, and neither are they allowed to go to school. Girls are shipped off, or kidnapped into early marriages, putting their lives in danger.

The Iran protests for the protection of women’s right to education and dressing, and the fight for justice for Mahsa Amani who died in detention have given women in eastern countries the courage to speak out and fight for their basic rights.

The trigger for the protests was last month’s terrorist attack on an education center in Kabul that killed 53 students and injured more than 110 – most of them girls and young women. But this was just the latest in a long series of attacks against female students, many of which targeted girls from the Hazara community.

September’s deadly attack, which occurred as female students were getting ready to take a practiced university entrance exam, came on the heels of an extremely damaging year for girls’ education in Afghanistan.

In March of this year, the Taliban barred girls from attending school beyond the sixth grade, effectively revoking the right to learn.

Most of the 1,880 girls’ secondary schools in Afghanistan are currently shuttered, and the Taliban has threatened to close those that remain in operation.

The sudden and unnecessary death of 53 female students has sparked outrage in Afghanistan. Although the Taliban has threatened to hurt the women if they continue to take to the street, they may not back down.

The constant threats to the lives of girls in the eastern part of the world are alarming, as women are treated like slaves. They are raped and touched inappropriately in the streets, they are kidnapped and shipped off to God knows where. Nobody is interested in listening to the United Nations or calling for help anymore.
