San Antonio police officer opens fire at two unarmed teenagers

A video posted on social media showed a San Antonio police officer open fire on two unarmed teenagers (a boy and a girl) who were eating in their car.

Gun violence in the United States and police brutality have become serious issues that the government should look at.

The video Brennand opening the door of the red vehicle parked in a McDonald’s parking lot. He called for backup while he was approaching the car.

Erik Cantu who was eating a burger and an unnamed 17-year-old female passenger were inside the car when he ordered them to get out of the vehicle.

Cantu then asked him ‘why’ as his car started to reverse. Brennand immediately started firing his pistol at the car, multiple times.

He fired at least 10 shots and Cantu was hit 4 times. The victim was taken to the hospital and he was said to have survived.

According to a San Antonio Police Department report, Brennand responded to a call for a disturbance at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, and attempted to gather information from witnesses when he noticed a vehicle that had evaded him the day before as he attempted a traffic stop because the registered license plate didn’t match the vehicle.

The report said the prior incident wasn’t related to the disturbance call at the restaurant.

James Brennand was a probationary officer who had been with the department for just seven months.

James told lies in his statement to his department, claiming that the teen’s car has hit him before he decided to open fire.

But when they checked the video cam on his cloth, it showed otherwise.

The San Antonio police department has since fired Brennand and revoked his possession of any firearm as the case is still under review.
