On September 8, 2022, the 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland passed away.

That morning, according to official sources, Her Majesty was ill and being closely monitored by doctors at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle.

To commemorate her over the 70-year reign, Her Majesty celebrated her Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland passed away on September 8, 2022, in the afternoon, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

Although the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, the official statement claims that Her Majesty “died peacefully” at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle. She was 96.

The Queen was to remain under close medical supervision at Balmoral because “the Queen’s doctors [were] concerned for Her health,” according to official sources earlier in the day.

In contrast to her usual practice, Queen Elizabeth II appointed the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, at Balmoral Castle on September 6. The British media speculated that this may have been because of Her Majesty’s known mobility issues.
