The United States President, Joe Biden has declared the coronavirus pandemic over, stating that citizens still be careful, as there are still people dealing with the virus.

Although the number of people dying from covid-19 in the United States is still rising, Biden is confident that the situation would continue improving, as the daily death toll is reduced.

In an interview with 60 Minutes on CBS, Mr. Biden said that the US is still doing “a lot of work” to control the virus. He said:

If you notice, no one’s wearing masks, everybody seems to be in pretty good shape…I think it’s changing.”

Data from Johns Hopkins University shows that the seven-day average of deaths currently stands at over 400, with more than 3,000 dead in the last week. The death toll from coronavirus over the years in the United States is over one million.

On Monday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, also assured Americans that the situation has improved. He still notes that the death rate in the United States is extensively high and the situation has to be fully dealt with.

In a statement made at Washington D.C. think-tank, Anthony said:

“We are not where we need to be if we’re going to be able to ‘live with the virus.”‘ Citizens of the United States and non-immigrants should be on alert, as new covid-19 variants can still come up to haunt people.

Covid-19 also continues to have a considerable impact on the US economy, with the National Bureau of Economic Research reporting last week that Covid-related disease has scarred the US workforce by approximately 500,000 people.
