This weekend, Andy Ruiz Jr. and Luis Ortiz will fight it out for heavyweight bragging rights. On Sunday, September 4, the battle will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
A five-fight card with the two brawlers as its main event will start at 9:00 p.m. ET. At around midnight ET, the two boxers will begin their ring walks. Both a live stream on FITE.tv and a FOX Sports PPV will be used to broadcast the event.
Andy Ruiz (34-2) will compete this weekend; he previously defeated Chris Arreola in May 2021. The destroyer will need to shake off some rust since this will be his first bout of the year.
When he defeated Anthony Joshua for the WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF heavyweight titles in 2018, he garnered media attention. Ruiz lost them in his rematch, but he has since recovered and is now hoping for another chance.
With a two-fight winning streak coming into this one, Ortiz (33-2) is aiming for his third victory. Following his victory over Charles Martin on New Year’s Day, King Kong will compete once more this year.
The heavyweight will have a difficult time knocking out Andy Ruiz despite having won 28 of his fights by way of KO. Since losing the WBC heavyweight title against Deontay Wilder in 2019, Ortiz hasn’t held a title. He has been putting a lot of effort into getting his next championship chance.
