Brendan Fraser has undergone a complete change for Darren Aronofsky’s most recent drama, The Whale.

The Samuel D. Hunter play that serves as the basis for the R-rated, A24 movie, directed by Darren Aronofsky, will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2022.

In The Whale, Brendan Fraser portrays a recluse English teacher who is severely obese. The story follows the actor’s attempts to salvage his relationship with his estranged teenage daughter (Sadie Sink),

Several awards were given to the 2012 production of “The Whale,” including the Drama Desk Award, the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play, a GLAAD Media Award, and nominations from the Drama League and Outer Critics Circle for Best Play.

After his first movie  “Mother!” in 2017, “The Whale” is directed by Darren Aronofsky. He reunites with longtime cinematographer Matthew Libatique, who also worked on Olivia Wilde’s fellow Venice premiere “Don’t Worry Darling.”

Fraser will also appear in Martin Scorsese’s Apple Original Western movie “Killers of the Flower Moon” in addition to “The Whale.” Fraser will also make a second appearance in “Batgirl” on HBO Max as Firefly.
