A magistrate court has arraigned a woman identified as Rebecca Nicodemus for stabbing her co-wife with a knife which lead to her death in Ondo state.

It was accounted that the suspect who is presently in the custody of the police murdered her co-wife because she received unique interest and love from their husband as she was brought before the court where charges against her read:

”that you, Rebecca Nicodemus, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did kill by stabbing one Precious Nicodemus with a knife at her left backside which resulted to her death and thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006″.

According to the suspect, Rebecca told the court that on the very morning the incident happened, she and her husband were making love to each other and in the long run, he came up with an excuse that they are not comfortable enough to continue their sexual intercourse then she discovered that he went into the room to make love to the second wife.

Rebecca added that what got her annoyed was the fact that they were making diminishing allegations against her and when the co-wife later came out of the room, they began to exchange words, and out of annoyance she grabbed a knife and stabbed her then she was later rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.

In her full words, she said;

“I married my husband, Paul Nicodemus. I came to Ondo State in January 2022 and we were leaving in the same house, I’m a farmer and we have been relating together in harmony alongside the deceased.

“On that fateful day, my husband was earlier with me in the living room but had to excuse himself on the pretext that we were not free to continue with our lovemaking.

“I also heard them making derogatory remarks about me. So, I waited in the sitting room for them to come out from the room before I challenged her but she suddenly grabbed my clothes. So, I took a knife from the table in our sitting room and stabbed her in the back with the knife.

“She was rushed to the hospital by the neighbours but the doctor on duty confirmed her dead. It was not my intention to kill her, I overreacted in anger,”

The final hearing of the case has been adjourned to the 22nd, Feb. 2022 by the Magistrate identified as Damilola Sekoni who preceded over the case.
