The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)- Nnamdi Kanu recently launched the Eastern Security Network. The purpose of the Eastern Security Network was to tackle the rising case of terrorism, especially from Fulani herdsmen.

The rise of the Eastern Security Network is coming at a time after other regional governors have set up their respective regional security system, asides from the national police. There is the Hisba police for Northern Nigeria and Amotekun which provides additional security for the Western province.

However, unlike Amotekun and Hisba police, the Eastern Governors have no tie to the Eastern Security Network. This has created concern from the people about their objectives, and above all, if their operation is lawful. Others lay concern on their funding, especially how the security firm procured the arms been displayed.

No comment have been made by the Federal Government so far.
