The trend of selecting offensive players persists.
The New Orleans Saints have maintained a perfect record of drafting offensive players with each of their 14 selections so far, setting a new NFL record. The team continued this trend by using the 14th overall pick to acquire Oregon State offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga.
This selection didn’t catch anyone off guard.
Despite considering trade offers, the Saints recognized the urgent need for reinforcement along their offensive line. With three offensive linemen already off the board, the decision to bolster their line was imperative.
Both offensive tackles Trevor Penning and Ryan Ramczyk have lingering injury concerns, while left guard James Hurst recently retired. Moreover, Penning, a first-round pick in 2022, has yet to meet expectations, further underscoring the necessity of selecting Fuaga.
The Saints still possess eight picks, including the 45th overall selection, to address remaining needs.
