Premier League giants Arsenal thrashed Chelsea to Extend their lead at the top of the table on Tuesday, after losing to Aston Villa during the weekend.
This victory not only establish Arsenal’s position as top contenders for the Premier League title but also saw them break multiple records in the process.
Leandro Trossard opened the scoring with a beautifully crafted goal very early in the game, but Chelsea were still ble to prevent more goalscoring opportunities till the end of the first half.
Then Kai Havertz and Ben White both scored braces to send the tally up to five in the second half.
This victory marked a historic milestone for Arsenal, as they became the first team in top-flight history to win three London derby matches by five or more goals in a single season.
According to football statistician Tom Ede on X, “The Arsenal are the first team in top-flight history to win 3 London derby matches by 5+ goals in a single season.”
Arsenal’s impressive record in London derbies this season now stands at six wins, three draws, and two losses in 11 matches, with 27 goals scored and 11 conceded.
Their only defeats have come against West Ham and Fulham and they would be facing Tottenham next.
Arsenal have thrived on goal difference as they go in search of their first Premier League title in a long time.
