Pop superstar Ariana Grande and her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater are taking their relationship to new heights, according to inside sources. The couple, who began dating last summer following Grande’s divorce proceedings, are said to be “getting more serious” about their future together.
“Ethan has been by her side, supporting her both personally and professionally,” a source close to the singers told ET. “They’re looking towards the future and everything that’s in store for them as a couple and as individuals. Things have been getting more serious.”
Ariana Grande, 30, and Ethan Slater, 31, had their romance scrutinized after the recent release of Grande’s deeply personal album Eternal Sunshine, which chronicles her painful divorce from realtor Dalton Gomez. Some fans seemingly directed negativity at Slater and others in the Thank U, Next singer’s life over lyrics addressing the split.
In response, Grande urged her supporters to “listen more closely,” asserting that despite capturing “painful moments,” the album is infused with “a through line of deep, sincere love.” She condemned spreading “hateful messages” as the “polar opposite” of how to support her.
“Hi, I just wanted to say anyone that is sending hateful messages to the people in my life based on your interpretation of this album is not supporting me and is absolutely doing the polar opposite of what I would ever encourage (and is also entirely misinterpreting the intention behind the music).”
While Grande has remained private about the end of her marriage, Eternal Sunshine’s confessional lyrics hint at the emotions she must have felt during the process, with one song depicting her feeling “hostage” to “tears.”
After finalizing her divorce last week, Ariana Grande described the album’s creation as “really healing.”
