Arizona State Football was beaten by Washington despite a solid attempt to beat the No. 5 team at Husky Stadium on Saturday night.
The Sun Devils were leading by a point at the beginning of the fourth quarter but Mishael Powell’s touchdown was enough to give Washington a 12-7 lead with 8:11 remaining.
Arizona State outgained Washington in the game 341-288.
It had a 145-13 advantage in rushing yards and a 37:29-22:31 advantage in time of possession.
But Bourguet’s interception was enough to turn things around.
Michael Penix Jr. went 27-for-42 for 275 yards for Washington. He threw two interceptions after coming into the game with three passes intercepted all season.
Grady Gross connected on a 24-yard field goal to top off an 8-play, 62-yard drive and give Washington a 15-7 lead over ASU with 3:16 left in the fourth quarter.
In the first quarter, neither team scored, by the second quarter, Arizona State was leading by 7-3.
The third quarter of the Arizona State vs. Washington game was a repeat of the first quarter.
ASU held a 124-18 advantage in rushing yards in the game.
Those rushing yards for ASU allowed the Sun Devils to build a 28:07-16:53 advantage in time of possession.
ASU hosts Washington State next week. Washington plays at Stanford.
