Former England football player, Gary Lineker has disclosed that he suffered racist abuse while he was playing for Barcelona because he had dark skin.

Gary made this known during his interview on the High-Performance podcast where he was quoted saying;

“In professional football I suffered that abuse, but I would never name names,”

“If I hadn’t been good at sport, life would have been very different for me and I think I would have been bullied at school.

“I was a bit of a fringe kid anyway. I was small, I was geeky, I had darkish skin and I suffered racist abuse even though I’m as English as anyone else.

“I suffered that kind of nonsense and it was a bit weird.

“Other people may not be able to handle these situations. I always had strength. It never really affected me.”
