Everton is assisting authorities in identifying supporters accused of racially insulting the families of Brentford scorer Ivan Toney and defender Rico Henry during the Premier League match at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Henry scored the game’s winning goal in a 3-2 triumph over Everton with nine men, and the defender afterward tweeted that some home fans in the stands had targeted his mother.

“I rarely speak out on issues that do not directly affect me or my family,” Henry explained. “However, seeing my mother unhappy after being racially harassed by a few Everton fans made my stomach turn.”

On Twitter, Toney said that a member of his family had been abused.

Brentford said that they were aware of the incidents and that a police report had been filed. Everton stated it was working with authorities to find the perpetrators.

Brentford stated, “We will provide our support to Rico and Ivan’s families and will fully participate with the inquiry and any further legal processes.”

With two games remaining, Everton is two points clear of the third relegation spot.
