AFC Bournemouth missed the opportunity to further cement their European ambitions after securing only one point in a 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium against Sunderland. AFC Bournemouth which is yet to lost a game in their last eight features, responded calmly. Robin Roefs, the goalkeeper is Sunderland denied Marcus Tavernier and Alex Scott from netting a goal while Lutsharel Geertruida secured an important goal-line intervention. Bournemouth finally played the equaliser in the 64th minutes as goalkeeper Roefs misjudged a cross from Tavernier, giving Evanlison the opportunity to net his sixth goal of the season. Andoni Iraola’s were unable to fire a winner despite the late pressure and a narrow mid from Alex Jimenez leaving them with only one point after the game. The draw pushed Bournemouth to eight position in the Premier League table as they continue to chase European qualification, while Sunderland now sit in 11th, just two points behind their opponent, AFC Bournemouth.
