Atlético Madrid has now extended its unbeaten run in the domestic La Liga to nine games after winning 2-0 against Real Betis to move to the top of the league table. The team under head coach Diego Simeone had only recorded one loss since the start of the season, in their opening match against Espanyol. The win puts them in fourth place on the league table with a total of 19 points, eight behind league leaders Real Madrid. The team took dominance immediately after the starting whistle was blown by the referee and recorded a goal in the third minute through a brilliant play at the bottom corner of the goalpost by Giuliano Simeone. Atletico Madrid netted their second goal before the end of the first 45 minutes in a controversial manner after Julian Alvarez initiated a quick counterattack and Alex Baena sent the ball behind Real Betis' goalkeeper. On the other hand, the home side, Real Betis, improved after the break and won all their last eight games across all competitions before they fell to Atletico Madrid in a La Liga game, with Giovani Lo Celso creating a major stake in their attack. Real Betis created some chances but were denied by Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak, who made several saves to earn another clean sheet and help Atletico extend their noticeable unbeaten run.
