A woman had her throat cut open by her former boyfriend inside a hospital located in Madhya Pradesh, India. Though the crime got media attention on July 1, the incident actually happened on June 27. That day, a 19-year-old girl named Sandhya Chaudhary had gone to a government-owned hospital located in Narsinghpur to visit a friend in the maternity ward. While inside the hospital, she met her ex-lover named Abhishek Koshti. He must have gotten wind of her intended visit and was hanging around the hospital premises for hours, waiting for her. The two met in the emergency section outside room 22 and had some brief interaction before the jilted lover started the brutal attack. He threw her on the ground, subdued her by sitting on her chest, then brought out a small knife which he used to slit her throat. The woman bled profusely and died with her back still on the floor, while the man fled on a motorcycle that was parked outside. Nobody, including the hospital security, intervened throughout the attack, which lasted for about 10 minutes. Some recorded with their mobile phones and even turned the camera to show their faces, while others just walked past. The footage of the killing showed the man kneeling beside the woman, who was already weak and covered in her own blood, and still cutting her throat with a blade. At a point, he stopped and tried cutting his own neck, but then he continued with the attack on her. Watch the video here (viewer's discretion advised). The fatal attack left the family of the deceased as well as patients in the hospital in total shock. The public's lack of empathy and unwillingness to help is now a major source of concern. However, one of the staff said the attacker threatened to kill him too if he tried to stop him. After her death, her body was not removed from the ground for many hours until the family came around. In anger, they staged a protest which continued after a brief calm, till past midnight.
