
Malcolm-Jamal Warner, a popular movie star who played the role of Theo Huxtable on the legendary NBC sitcom “The Cosby Show,” has passed away at the age of 54 after he was involved in an accidental drowning in Costa Rica.
Officials announced to the public that the actor was caught in a rip current while swimming at Playa Cocles on Sunday afternoon.
He had no vital signs anymore, even when the first responders came in, although he was rushed away from the pool by bystanders.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner became popular on the screen worldwide when he played the role of Theo, the only male child in the family of Huxtable, where he appeared in all the movie’s 197 episodes from 1984 to 1992. He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1986 after his Theo role and left an unforgettable memory on a generation of viewers.
Aside from playing a memorable role in “The Cosby Show,” Malcolm-Jamal Warner had a lovable career, featuring in “Malcolm & Eddie,” “Read Between the Lines,” and “The Resident.” He last acted in “9-1-1.”
Condolences have been shared by fans and colleagues on Monday, including from actress Viola Davis, who hailed Warner’s excellent career and talent.
