Trump's administration had deployed 2000 National Guard members to take control of the protest situation over immigration pick-up operations in Los Angeles. The White House has tagged it a show of lawlessness after ICE operations across the City sparked outrage. Speaking about the new development, the White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said the administration made the decision due to the violent clashes between the protesters and the authorities. "That is why President Trump has signed a Presidential Memorandum deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to address the lawlessness that has been allowed to fester," Leavitt said. California Governor Gavin Nelson has been very vocal about being against the ICE deportation operations around the country. He had spoken multiple times on social media about it. Concerning the announcement of 2000 National Guards, Governor Newsom called the development 'inflammatory', a move that'll only heighten the tension in the state. The protests started after ICE agents raided multiple places in the city, picking adults and children alike, and detaining them at the Edward Roybal Federal Building in downtown LA. The clash between the protesters and the authorities got physical at some point, with some of the protesters throwing rocks at the vehicles of the authorities. The LA local authorities are distancing themselves from the swoops, only showing up for organization and crowd control.
