Yolanda Saldívar, the woman who was close to Selena and was convicted of killing the Mexican-American singer in 1995 has been denied parole after three decades in prison.
Her appeal for parole was denied after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles determined she was a cold-blooded killer when she gunned down the Tejano music star at a Days Inn Motel in Corpus Christi on March 31st.
Since then, she has been remanded in prison, only to appeal for parole 30 years later.
After analyzing all the facts, and her character before and after the execution, including exclusive interviews, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles decided to deny Yolanda’s appeal.
So, her next parole review would be in five years. Maybe she’ll be lucky then.
Selena was too young to die. She had a lot to live for. She was buzzing and had lots of fans in Texas. Saldívar pretended to love Selena. She was the president of Selena’s fan club and spoke a lot at her shows.
Yolanda was also overseeing two of Selena’s Boutiques. But one day, the family discovered the woman they trusted with Selena’s brand was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. She laundered money and stole from the fan club and Selena’s Boutique. When the family found out, they sacked Yolanda. You can not claim you love Selena and hurt her business behind her back.
Angry and seething with revenge after she was fired, Saldívar found and shot her in the back. In agony, the singer struggled to the lobby and Yolanda followed, watching her while she collapsed. It was the most inhumane execution.
After killing Selena, Yolanda ran to a truck packed outside the motel and locked herself in, threatening to end her life. By then the police already knew who killed Selena. The singer had given up her killer to the motel employees.
