Stefon Diggs Agrees To $69 Million New Deal With Patriots

Stefon Diggs Agrees To $69M New Deal With Patriots

Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs agreed to a new 3-year deal worth $69 million with the New England Patriots on Tuesday.

This is coming after an ACL injury unfortunately terminated his season in Week 8. On the brighter side, he should be ready to play from the first week of the upcoming season, according to the timeline of the injury and the recovery phase.

While the new deal is great, Diggs was not the Patriot’s first choice for a wide receiver. The Patriots first tried everything they could to sign receiver Chris Godwin in free agency, because they wanted nothing more than the best in the business to work with their starting quarterback, Drake Mate. However, every move fell through and Godwin went back to Tampa Bay.

So, the Patriots went for Diggs, who was second in the Texans in receiving yards (496).

Steffon has been one player to look out for since he went pro. He has broken various team and league records and will continue to after his recovery.

Before going to play for the Texans, he was in the League of his one with the Buffalo Bills, being one of four players in NFL history to record four consecutive seasons with 100-plus receptions.

He also made the Pro Bowl in every season with the Buffalo Bills and was the leading NFL Receiver before them, recording 127 receptions and 1535 receiving yards

Diggs would be joining an already loaded wide receiver room with free-agent additions Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas, and Kayshon Boutte, and second-year receivers Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker.
