If you are doubting the story of Jonah in the belly of a large fish, then the live video of a man and his kayak swallowed by a humpback whale might want to cast some truth on the story.
The video showed a man paddling in his Kayaker when the whale opened its mouth from beneath and swallowed them whole. However, contrary to the story, the man and his Kayaker emerged from the water seconds later after the whale realized they were not food and spit them out.

The incident happened to Adrian Simancas when he was kayaking with his father Dell, in Bahía El Aguila, near the San Isidro Lighthouse off Chile’s coast of Magellan.
“I thought I was dead. I thought it had eaten me”, Adrian said, when the massive whale breached and he disappeared with his little yellow watercraft inside his mouth.
His father saw the entire event and it was captured on camera. He urged his son to stay calm as he paddled toward him.
While being rescued, Adrian said he still feared that the whale might attack him and/or his father too, or that something else might happen before they got on land and he might get hypothermia.
Luckily, both lived to tell the tale.
In another incident on July 2024, a breaching whale landed and capsized a fishing boat off the New Hampshire shore near Odiorne Point State Park in Rye.
The two fishermen in the boat were thrown overboard but were quickly rescued by other boats that captured it on camera.
Can Whales Eat Humans?
No, whales cannot eat humans. Despite having a very large boat that can easily swallow a boat, a whale’s throat is very small and is about the size of a clinched human’s fist.
Despite their very large size, baleen whales such as blue whales (the largest of them) and humpback whales only feed on little fishes to microorganisms like plankton. They use a filter-feeding mechanism by using sieves called baleen to get their food.
