South Korean actress Kim Sae-Ron has been confirmed dead two years after she was convicted of driving under the influence. She was only 24.
The actress was found dead by a friend in her home in Seoul on Sunday. The police do not suspect foul play, however, a full-on investigation has been launched into her death.
Kim had enjoyed a thriving career starring in blockbusters like “The Man from Nowhere,” the 2012 mystery thriller “The Neighbors,” among others.
However, Kim was bullied into a silent existence when she was arrested in Korea for DUI in 2023. She had crashed her car after a concert in the Country’s capital.
In April, she was convicted and found guilty of drunk driving. She was then fined $14,000 and maintained a low profile. Nevertheless, the Korean public did not let her hear the last of it. She faced constant bullying and criticism for her conviction.
After the news of her death hit the Internet, many Korean actors paid tribute to the young actress.
Kim’s co-star Kim Min-che from ‘The Neighbors’ shared a picture with the caption “I was so happy to meet you as my daughter in the movie. May you rest in peace.”
Like Sae-Ron, many young Korean celebrities have died suspected of suicide, probably from the pressure of fame and the inability to get to the perfect standard set by the Korean public.
