Liverpool earned a 2-0 victory on Saturday to snatch three points against Bournemouth as the team extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to nine points.

Liverpool secured their first goal of the match in the first half when Egyptian talisman Mohamed Salah successfully converted a controversial penalty into a goal in the 30th minute of the game.

It appears that Cody Gakpo tripped on his feet rather than being fouled by Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook, but the referee, Darren England, awarded a penalty kick against Bournemouth, and his decision was confirmed by VAR after a check, which led to anger among Bournemouth players and fans.

As the match proceeded to the second half, Salah netted another goal in the 75th minute through an assist from an English professional footballer, Curtis Jones, totaling Salah’s goals to 21 in his 23 appearances this season.

The second goal also marks Mohamed Salah’s 178 career Premier League goals, beating former Chelsea star Frank Lampard to become the sixth-highest goal scorer in the Premier League’s record.

The team has continued with a good record under new coach Arne Slot, winning 17 of their 23 games this season. Arne Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in the close season.

Liverpool is in the race to win the Premier League title this time.
