Authorities have proceeded to investigate what caused a Delta Air Lines plane crash-landing, including flipping over at Toronto’s Pearson Airport, which occurred on Monday. Luckily, the 80 passengers on board survived the crash.
The flight departed from Minneapolis in the US but crash-landed at Canada’s Pearson Airport. It skidded along the runway with flames visible before coming to a stop upside down. Passengers described hanging in their seats before releasing themselves and escaping onto the snow-covered tarmac.
While no fatality was recorded, eighteen of the passengers sustained injuries, including a minor; others suffered little injuries. Professionals gave credit to immediate emergency response and the improvements in aircraft safety for the rate of survival of people onboard.
The officials at Toronto’s Pearson Airport also mentioned that the runway was dry at the time the incident occurred despite wintry weather. Experts also made it known that an object or strong wind could have played a role.
This crash makes it at least the fourth of its kind this month in North America, including a deadly American Airlines crash in Washington, D.C. Authorities continue to investigate what could have led to the cause of the Delta Airline crash.
