The bodies of 70 Christians were found beheaded inside a church in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Local media said the victims were kidnapped and killed by the Islamic Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists.
Survivors said the massacre happened on Thursday at about 4.pm local time on February 13, when the ADF which is affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) arrived in Mayba, a village in Lubero, knocking on doors and ordering the people to quietly come out. 20 residents, including men and women were taken captive.
The villagers would later regroup to rescue the captives, but their efforts failed woefully and an additional 50 people were abducted as a result.
The armed terrorists then took the 70 Christians inside a Protestant Church in Kasanga where their heads were chopped off.
Even in death, bereaved family members feared retrieving and burying their dead for fear of a surprise attack.
International Christian Concern (ICC), an NGO that reports on the persecution of Christians said the victims were abducted and kept for days before they were eventually killed.
Persecution of Christians in Congo by Islamic militants is astronomically high, especially in the eastern part. Just like the DRC, many African countries too are facing incessant attacks from Islamic terrorists sponsored by foreign terror organizations from foreign countries.
Recently, the USAID under the Obama and Biden administrations was revealed to have been sponsoring terrorist groups like Boko Haram in Nigeria and West Africa. Boko Haram which means “deceit” or “fake” is also affiliated with ISIS in Iraq.
With millions killed and fleeing their land in the wake of ethnic cleansing that has been going on since 2014, the ICC said Christians needed more than prayers and called for an all-African military force to put a lasting solution to the unending bloodshed.
