The newly inaugurated President of the United States, Donald Trump, condemns a remark from Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde during a National Cathedral prayer service that follows his inauguration.

The bishop called on the president to display compassion for immigrant families and transgender children, reiterating the fears of migrant wards and what migrants contribute to the economy of the United States.

Bishop Budde also urged President Trump to support refugees and those who fled because of persecution, mentioning the fear that people have towards his second-term administration.

In the response, the president called the bishop’s comment “nasty” and asked her to apologize for her comment, later saying that the service was not too exciting. Those who had Trump’s back include Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.), who, while condemning the bishop’s response, urged the president to pen her name in the deportation list.

The president signed a lot of executive orders on his first day in office as president. The orders include limiting immigration, pausing refugee admissions, and reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” program.

President Trump also ended the CBP One app, and he also targeted children of immigrants who are yet to be documented for benefiting from birthright citizenship.
