Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United skipper, was sent off from the pitch after he was shown a red card as Wolves earned a deserving 2-0 win under new boss Vitor Pereira, continuing their perfect start. This red card makes it the third that Fernandes received this season.

The Manchester United captain got a second yellow card after two minutes of the second half began, adding to the red card he received against Tottenham and Porto.

Less than 12 minutes after the red card, Wolves took the advantage as Matheus Cunha scored directly from a corner, a similar finish to the one that Son Heung-min scored last week against the Red Devils. The goal went over United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana’s reach.

Manchester United did all they could to equalize but the attempt left them vulnerable, while Wolves soon hit another goal at the stoppage-time. The second goal was scored through an assist from Cunha to Hwang Hee-chan who converted it to a good finishing.

This loss for Manchester United makes it their fifth in seven games across all competitions.

Manchester United under new coach Ruben Amorim has not been performing well, especially in their defense, as they conceded goals from set pieces to Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Bournemouth. They have only been able to secure seven points from six Premier League matches under manager Amorim.

Manchester United will not play against Newcastle United on 30 December without captain Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte, who earned his fifth booking of the season.
