A brand that is well known for its mugs and water bottles, Stanley, announced on Thursday, December 12, in a statement that they are recalling a total number of 2.6 million steel cups after reports of burn injuries surface.
The recall targets all Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action Travel Mugs that were sold between June 2016 and December 2024.
It was reported by the Consumer Product Safety Commission that the mugs produced by Stanley can shrink under pressure or heat, which will make the lids of the mugs fall off unexpectedly.
The issues that were being reported had caused 91 cases and other problems, including 38 burn injuries across the globe and in the United States.
The company, Stanley, has issued advice to their customers to reach the company through a provided link on social media to get a free replacement lid.
“At Stanley 1913 we are committed to constant improvement and are focused on creating quality products that are built for life,” the company said in a statement.
This recall will not affect Stanley’s viral 40-ounce Quencher Cup plus straw and handle, which has gained a wide range of popularity in recent years.
