Former Iowa Basketball Player Jamie Cavey-Lang Dies At 41

A legend and former star of Iowa women’s basketball, Jamie Cavey-Lang, who also doubles as a radio analyst, died on Saturday at the age of 41 after fighting cancer.

Jamie Cavey-Lang, who joined the broadcast team in 2016, stopped being a part of the radio business after the 2022–23 season. 

She joined the Iowa women’s basketball squad in 2001 and left four years later, playing and contributing to four seasons. Cavey-Lang graduated from North Cedar High School and concluded her Hawkeye career with 1,265 points, where she ranked 27th in program history and 506 rebounds. 

Among the records she won was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. 

Cavey-Lang furthered her education and earned a master’s degree from Iowa. She then worked as a career advisor at the university and later served on the presidential committee on athletes.

The woman left behind her husband, Mike, and children – Vincent, Bennett, and Sydney. There will be a visitation on Thursday from 4 p.m. at The Celebration Farm in Iowa City, while a funeral mass will also be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Solon.
