West Ham delivered an outstanding performance in Newcastle’s home on Monday at St. James’ Park and beat Newcastle 2-0, relieving pressure from the head coach, Julen Lopetegui.
Tomas Soucek scored an early header in the 10th minute of the game from the corner, placing West Ham United in the lead.
West Ham United’s win was sealed in the second half after Aaron Wan-Bissaka scored his first goal for the club with an assist from Jarrod Bowen that ended the game 2-0.
The hosts started the game well while they also netted a goal in the early minutes through Alexander Isak, but the goal was ruled out because of offside. Newcastle United were unable to capitalize on their possession and many of the chances created.
Anthony Gordon capitalized on a defensive error and fired a straight shot at Lukasz Fabianski, while Isak missed a cross from Bruno Guimaraes.
West Ham United spent most of the time defending to frustrate an attack from Newcastle United. Newcastle still could not score a goal even after Jacob Murphy and Callum Wilson in from the bench.
The victory pushed West Ham to 15 points, while Newcastle remains in 18 points and 10th place on the Premier League table. The win has also killed speculations about Lopetegui’s job at West Ham United.
