A 53-year-old man was fined €3,000 for setting up a Christmas tree outside a Mobi daycare/kindergarten in Hamburg Lokstedt district because the management claimed it made Muslim children and others feel unwelcome.
The case started last year December 2023 when Florian Schröder, a plant store owner, noticed that the daycare center did not have any Christmas trees. He might have thought to put it there to wow the kids. However, he got the opposite reaction from the authorities of the preschool owned by the Finkenau Kindergarten Foundation, who called the police and charged him with trespassing.
In a notice sent by the management of the Daycare center to parents, they said they would not set up a Christmas tree, and probably decorations and lights for the season because they did not want to alienate any of the kids due to their religious beliefs, in the pursuit of freedom of religion.
Schröder said he set up the Christmas tree to make the children happy, noting that the daycare’s management only stated they opted against it because they could not accommodate every religion. He also note that it was not a criminal offense to illuminate children’s eyes with Christmas lights.
Despite his argument, the court found him guilty and ordered him to pay a fine of 3,000 Euros. Schröder appealed the judgment and the Hamburg district court will again weigh on it on Tuesday.
The case has once again spiked the controversial talks of Europe invasion, and berated the Government for allowing the destruction of the culture and identity of the once great German people.
Others noted that Germany was a Christian country and said they were offended by the hijabs and asked the Muslims living in there to leave or adapt, and not force change in their host community.
