Algeria now sits at the top position in Group E of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers after a nil draw over Equatorial Guinea at Estadio de Malabo on Thursday.
Equatorial Guinea did their best against Algeria, mounting pressure on their opponent’s defense as Algeria keeps to the back for defense in their first few minutes.
It was a very difficult game in the first fifteen minutes for Algeria as the team struggled to move forward, leaving their defense unable to reach Equatorial Guinea’s penalty box.
Despite the struggles, Algeria earned the possession as the first half progressed, mostly in their build-up from defense, but Equatorial Guinea did not oose their momentum and almost scored a goal before the end of the halftime save for Algeria’s goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja, who denied Louis Asue’s attempt from close range.
Algeria created brief attacking chances in the second half of the game while Equatorial Guinea immediately went back to controlling the match after the half hour, keeping Algeria to the backside again for defense.
The two teams could not score at least a goal despite creating many opportunities in the final minutes, while the game ended in a 0-0 draw, solidifying Algeria’s leadership position in the group.
