Mentally challenged woman and Black Lives Matter activist Sydney Wilson was shot multiple times and killed after she charged at a cop with a knife, stabbing him many times according to police bodycam footage.
The incident happened on September 16, 2024, during a welfare check following reports from a mental health worker that the woman was very agitated.
According to the bodycam footage of the Fairfax County police officer who came to the home located at Sunrise Valley Drive, the officer knocked at the door of Wilson but was startled to see the 33-year-old woman open the door and immediately slashed a long knife at him, cutting his forehead.
“Oh Jesus Christ”, the cop exclaimed as he backed off. He pulled out his gun, warning Wilson to back off.
Sydney momentarily obeyed the officer’s commands but seemed to be remotely controlled when she started coming towards him with her hands raised high up and holding the knife.
The officer screamed at her to back off many times before he fired the first two shots at the woman – the bullet seemed not to have any effect on her.
She sprung at the officer with clenched teeth while stabbing him multiple times.
The officer shot multiple times again, and it took a moment before the adrenaline-charged woman fell to the ground.

It was reported that officers responding to a welfare check on a mentally ill patient always do so with a health professional as a co-responder, however, there was none available at that time.
The officer involved in the shooting was identified as Peter Liu, a Police Officer First Class (PFC) and 14-year veteran. The department said he acted solely out of self-defence after utilizing all available options to de-escalate and manage the situation.
The released bodycam footage might put an end to the speculation that Sydney Wilson who identified as transgender, was shot and killed by a racist cop.
