Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi ISIS Migrant Planned Terror Attack In US On Election Day

An Afghanistan man living in the United States was arrested by the FBI after he planned with ISIS to execute a terrorist attack on voters who would come out on the election day.

The suspected terrorist was identified as Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, aged 27 years old, and living in Oklahoma City.

According to preliminary investigations, Nasir had planned to execute a large-scale mass shooting on the US presidential election day. He had already stockpiled weapons – two AK-47 assault rifles, 10 magazines, and 500 rounds of ammunition for the attack, and had begun liquidating his family’s assets, planning his eventual death as a martyr.

The U.S. Department of Justice reported that a juvenile assisting him was also arrested. He had advertised Tawhedi’s assets for sale on Facebook.

How Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi’s Election Day Terror Attack Was Discovered & Foiled

Following an investigation into Tawhedi’s activities, an undercover FBI agent contacted his co-conspirator in charge of selling his assets to enquire if a computer was still available for sale. During their conversation, the agent claimed he needed the computer to start a firearm business.

Both parties got talking which led Tawhedi to open up and request to buy assault rifles, magazines, and other ammunitions from the agent.

The transaction was carried out on October 7 in an agreed spot in Oklahoma, and after Tawhedi paid and took possession of the firearms, he was arrested.

Tawhedi will be charged with conspiring to provide support for ISIS and receiving firearms to commit a felony or acts of terrorism. Each charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 and 15 years respectively. Whether he would be deported or not was not said.

According to messages he wrote on Telegram, his target spot will be areas that will have large crowds of unsuspecting US citizens that would gather to vote.

A search on his mobile phone revealed he had been communicating with someone who was actively involved in recruiting, indoctrinating, and training interested terrorists in order to carry out terrorist activities. Tawhedi himself understood that the person he was speaking to was affiliated with the Islamic State.

Records showed Nasir Tawhedi entered the United States through a special immigrant visa on the 9th of September 2021, following the withdrawal of the US forces from Afghanistan. He was an ISIS follower before he came to the US and had already relocated his family abroad before the planned election day attack.
