Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl has decided to come clean about fathering a child out of wedlock.
On Tuesday, the 55-year-old made the announcement through a short statement posted on his Instagram page. The post reads the following:
“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
The identity of the mother of his newborn wasn’t revealed in the post and neither was the duration of the affair. However, on Wednesday afternoon, an Instagram user named @valeriegrayson claimed that she was the other woman in his life and that the name of the child was Roxie Junie Grohl. The viral post, which featured a photo of a baby holding a woman’s finger, has since been deleted after the musician debunked the news.
Dave Grohl has been married to his second wife, Jordyn Blum, since 2003. The two met in 2001 when she was working at MTV. They share three kids, all girls.
Netizens are also now referring to a viral video of him acting “pissy” towards a BBC Sports reporter at Wimbledon week in July. His wife attended the event with him and this would be two months before the rock and roll legend publicly admits to cheating on her.
After being seen wearing her wedding ring on that day, it was not noticed on her finger in the following weeks. As reported by Metro UK, the couple was spotted taking a walk early last month, but they seemed distant from each other. Blum’s bare left hand was visible as she typed on her phone while Grohl casually smoked a cigarette. A source has also informed PEOPLE that Dave Grohl had hired a divorce attorney before he went public with news of his affair.
