Video: Bus Driver Beats Up Male Passenger For Spitting At Him

A New Jersey driver had it up his throat when he beat up a man who allegedly spat on him. The video recorded by another passenger saw the driver, identified as Toron Walker, asking other passengers in the bus to make room before he started his volley of punches.

The incident happened on Friday, August 16 in a crowded transit bus in Newark. However, the footage did not capture the moment the man allegedly spat on the driver.

The passenger could be seen in the video daring the driver who had by then pulled to the side of the road to “do something” during a faceoff.

“I’ll knock your little ass the f— out,” the driver said as he motioned the other passengers to go over to the back of the bus.

And that was when the volley of punches started which would end in a chokehold. The male passenger appeared to be undefensive after the first few assaults. According to an official report, he did not suffer any major injury.

Walker was subsequently arrested for aggravated assault and might risk losing his job if found wanting. The passenger too was also arrested by the police.

The driver-passenger assault happened during Gov. Phil Murphy’s free transit holiday. It raised a reminder on the general safety of commuters in NJ Transit bus service – a yet-to-be-addressed challenge.
