Real Madrid Unveils Kylian Mbappé’s Jersey Number And Presentation Date

With his participation in the European Championships now concluded, Real Madrid has released details about Kylian Mbappé’s upcoming arrival at the club following his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

France was defeated by Spain in Munich, Germany, on Tuesday night, freeing Mbappé to prepare for his move to Madrid after a brief vacation, which will likely delay his pre-season preparations.

Before his break, Mbappé will attend his official presentation at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday, July 16th. The day will start at the club’s training facilities at Valdebebas for the official signing of his contract alongside president Florentino Pérez and other board members.

Following this, Mbappé will head to the Bernabéu, where he will be introduced to fans and the press. Entry for spectators is free, although the 12:00pm timing may result in lower attendance than an evening presentation. The time adjustment was made to accommodate upcoming events, as the arena needs preparation for concerts later in the week.

After the presentation to fans in the stadium, Mbappé will hold a press conference with club representatives, marking the end of the day’s events. Excitement is already high among fans.

Mbappé’s Real Madrid jersey number has been confirmed. The French national team captain will wear the number nine jersey, the first to do so since the departure of his compatriot and former France teammate Karim Benzema.

This will be a new jersey number for Mbappé, who previously wore number 10 for France and number seven for PSG. He has only worn the number nine once, in February 2017, against FC Chambly Oise in the Coupe de France.

Several other Real Madrid players will also change their jersey numbers. Fede Valverde will take over Toni Kroos’ number eight, Eduardo Camavinga will switch to number six, Aurélien Tchouaméni will change to number 14, Arda Güler to 15, and Jesús Vallejo to 18 following his return from a loan at Granada.

Mbappé suffered a broken nose in his first match with France at Euro 2024 against Austria and has been playing with a protective face mask until the game against Spain, where he played without one.

The forward expressed discomfort and restricted vision from the mask, which many believe contributed to his poor performance, scoring only one goal in the tournament from a penalty.

After a medical examination on Tuesday, Real Madrid’s medical team will decide whether Mbappé should undergo surgery to correct the injury. This could affect his debut date, but if surgery is not needed, he will likely target August 14th and the UEFA European Super Cup against Atalanta for his first appearance in a Real Madrid jersey.
