Mateusz Bogusz Of LAFC Voted MLS Player Of The Month

Mateusz Bogusz, midfielder for LAFC, has earned the title of MLS Player of the Month for June 2024.

Bogusz played a pivotal role for LAFC throughout June, contributing to the team’s unbeaten streak (4 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw) with at least one goal or assist in every match, totaling nine goal contributions (6 goals, 3 assists). His nine goal contributions in a single month put him on par with Cucho Hernández of the Columbus Crew for the league lead, and he shares the season’s longest goal contribution streak with Luciano Acosta of FC Cincinnati, the reigning Landon Donovan MLS MVP.

To cap off an impressive month, Bogusz scored his first-career MLS hat trick in a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on June 29.

At 22 years old, Bogusz is enjoying a breakout season in his second full year with LAFC, tallying 12 goals (including 4 match winners) and 5 assists in 20 matches. His streak of nine goals and four assists spans nine consecutive matches, contributing significantly to LAFC’s unbeaten run (8 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw) during that period.

Bogusz joins a select group of LAFC players who have received the Player of the Month award, including Denis Bouanga, Adama Diomande, and Carlos Vela (three times). He and Piotr Nowak (May 1998) are the only Polish players in MLS history to achieve this honor.

Currently leading the Western Conference with 40 points (12 wins, 4 losses, 4 draws), LAFC will face off against the LA Galaxy on Thursday night at the Rose Bowl in the latest edition of El Tráfico (10:30 pm ET / 7:30 PT | MLS Season Pass).

The MLS Player of the Month award is determined by a panel of selected national media members through a process managed by MLS Communications.
