Boston Bruins Sign Defenseman Nikita Zadorov And Top Center Elias Lindholm

Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov are back together as teammates, each of them signing long-term contracts with the Boston Bruins.

The Bruins made the signings public on Monday without providing the details of the contract. Reports have it that Lindholm has secured a seven-year deal worth $7.75 million a year, and Zadorov has signed a six-year deal worth $5 million a year.

This signing marks the third time in the past year that Zadorov and Lindholm have played together on the same team. They started last season with the Calgary Flames before coming back together through separate trades that sent them to the Vancouver Canucks.

It now looks like they could be with the Boston Bruins for the future.

Lindholm’s signing now addresses Boston’s need for another top-six center. The retirements of former captains Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci left the Bruins entering the 2023–24 season without a proven top-six center.

This vacuum led to the emergence of Charlie Coyle, who scored a career-high 25 goals and 60 points in 82 games. The Bruins also relied on all four of their centers to fill the gap left by Bergeron and Krejci.

However, being eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers raised questions about how the Bruins could strengthen their roster.
