On June 25, McDonald’s will be launching its new value promotion, a $5 Meal Deal, in locations like Louisiana and Texas. This is in response to customer concerns over rising prices and to stimulate sales. The president of McDonald’s USA, Joe Erlinger, gave a statement to assure consumers, saying:

“We heard our fans loud and clear – they’re looking for even more great value from us, and this summer that’s exactly what they’ll get. Value has always been part of our DNA. We’re focused on living up to that legacy and offering delicious, affordable options customers can enjoy any time they walk through our doors, go through our drive thru or place an order through our app.”

This limited-time offer, expected to run for about a month nationwide, includes four items:

1. A McChicken or McDouble
2. Four-piece chicken nuggets
3. Small fries
4. Small soft drink

This move comes as McDonald’s, like many fast-food chains, faces criticism over price increases. The company recently addressed claims about significant price hikes, stating that the average U.S. Big Mac price has increased by 20.5% since 2019, not doubled as some reports suggested.

In addition to the $5 Meal Deal, McDonald’s franchisees across the U.S. are offering their own specials, such as “buy one get one for $1 breakfast sandwiches” and mix and match deals. Customers are advised to check with their local McDonald’s for specific offers.

The introduction of this value deal aligns with similar strategies from competitors like Burger King, Wendy’s, and Starbucks, who have also recently rolled out meal deals. McDonald’s hopes this $5 Meal Deal promotion will help combat the recent slowdown in store traffic observed in the first quarter of the year, attributed to inflation-weary customers eating out less frequently.
