On Wednesday evening, Kendrick Lamar brought together an impressive array of West Coast hip-hop talent for his “Ken & Friends – The Pop Out” concert, held on Juneteenth at the Kia Forum in Inglewood. While the event was intended to showcase unity among Los Angeles artists, Kendrick also seized the opportunity to reignite his ongoing rap beef with Drake.

Kicking off his set with the diss track “Euphoria,” aimed at Drake, Kendrick made it clear the evening was about celebrating the collective power of the West Coast scene.

“This is unity, y’all just don’t know man,” he declared, gathering over 25 performers on stage for a powerful display of camaraderie.

The stacked lineup included heavyweights like Tyler, the Creator, YG, Roddy Ricch, Ty Dolla $ign, Dom Kennedy, and Steve Lacy. Kendrick also reunited with his Black Hippy crew – Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock – harkening back to their days under the Top Dawg Entertainment label.

In a poignant moment, the concert paid tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle, with DJ Mustard leading a memorial segment for the fallen Crenshaw rapper. Dr. Dre also made a surprise appearance, performing classics like “Still D.R.E.” and “California Love” before teeing up Kendrick’s most direct shot at Drake.

As Dre whispered the intro to “Not Like Us,” Kendrick launched into the viral diss track, repeatedly rapping the standout line, “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor” – a double entendre suggesting Drake’s interest in underage girls. The crowd fueled the tension, chanting “OV-hoe” throughout the night, referencing another lyric from the track.

Beyond the Drake disses, Kendrick Lamar kept the energy high with a medley of hits like “M.A.A.d City,” “Be Humble,” “DNA.,” and “King Kunta.” He also remixed lyrics to “Euphoria” with a new jab at Drake, demanding the return of Tupac’s ring in exchange for respect.

The night began with opening sets from 15 local L.A. acts, underscoring the event’s purpose of showcasing homegrown talent. As the concert drew to a close, Kendrick brought all the performers together on stage, vowing, “I promise this won’t be the last of us.”

The star-studded affair even attracted NBA luminaries like LeBron James, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Coby White, with Westbrook and DeRozan joining the rapper on stage at one point.
